Go to a good camera shop, screw on equivalent lenses and hold the 1V and then hold the F6. I would still by the Chevy because that is what I like. If I liked a Chevy pickup but for a little extra, the Dodge place down the road had something similar that can tow 500 more pounds and a little further down the road the Ford place has has a truck two thousand dollars cheaper with more features then both the Chevy or the Dodge. I only have the Canon because I think they are ahead of Nikon in Digital & I use the 1V with a 20D.
#Canon 1v vs nikon f6 pro
You can make a smaller package & use a robust pro body, which will take a lot of banging around while travelling, with the Nikon. On the other-hand, the Canon is just as robust & feature ladden.
#Canon 1v vs nikon f6 manual
That is the F6's advantage over the earlier F5.Also if you use or like some of Nikon's manual AIS lenses, they now can be programed into the F6 for full matrix metering & full SB-800 flash use.I feel Nikon has a slight advantage as far as flash, but Canons new 580 flash is outstanding. The advantage of both cameras is that they can be broken down & carried without the large battery packs if you want to go light. Also we tend to get very lazy the end of the day after carrying around several large & heavy zoom lenses.Either the F6 or the 1V are great platforms to work with. The airlines are getting very strict on how much you can carry onboard.I use both Nikons & Canon's fast prime lenses. Why?,because in very sensitive locations ,where people are shy, pulling out large zoom lenses intimidates them. Why two system's? I felt that the future for me in the digital world is with Canon(full frame) & since I still own some Nikon glass, Nikon would be my film based system. On the whole, Nikon's lenses are much smaller & therefore easier to travel with. Pablo,if you are planning to do Travel photography, having a large amount of big & heavy zooms may not be the way to-go.How do I know? I've been a pro for 25 years & do mostly Travel & location work. Had a need and market to produce top quality full frame lenses.Īnyway it all adds to the thought process for Pablo. Worried me and Canons production of a full frame digital impressed me because they still Silent feature sounds (or doesn't !) cool, but I've lived this long with the quiet enough 1V.Īs I said the two systems are fairly comparable (nothing on one works outstandinglyīetter than on the other, except IS, which I understand is licenced to Nikon byĬanon, albeit a generation behind, for use in their VR lenses) but Nikons lens issues Landscape work I know but it is nice to auto bracket fast before clouds move. Rates, the F6 is still slower even with the drive than the 1V with drive, not very relevent to Viewfinders and that was the main thing going for the F5 when I was looking. The F6 seems to have lost functionality, I always liked interchangable
I'm sure the Nikon forum would disagree!Īt over $600 more I would have thought the F6 should be better than equal! MyĬomparison was with the F5 because that was the competition when I bought into an AFģ5mm system.
It is fun, and I can "waste film" on sport and stuff with it whilst useing pro optics. Pro zooms, flashes, 50 f1.4, 300 f2.8 IS and now also have a 1D, so far I have found theyĬompliment each other very well though I wouldn't use the 1D for weddings or landscapes Who earn their livings with them don't think so either.įinally I don't regret my choice for a second, I got two 1V bodies and drives and a set of Specifically the 1V and 24-70 f2.8 L is a great combination, a lot of people will say it's tooīig and heavy etc but it really depends, I don't find it so and many wedding photographers Than anything else, not relevente for the 24-70, but the 70-200 IS is an awesome tool. IS is anĪmazing feature, don't underestimate it, Nikon lost more pro shooters to this one feature Investment in pro glass to keep pace with that, this is not the case with NIkon.
Point for me, I wanted film but thought at some time I would use digital and wanted the All the Canon EF lenses will work on all the Canon digitals, this was a major selling Whilst not a major concern, comparable pro Canon lenses seem to be cheaper than Your useing film) all the EF lenses and a few specialty lenses are there for the taking. Canon don't have this problem (just ignore the three EF-S lenses as Nikon lens system seems to be in complete disarray, some lenses don't work or meter on One type to another but all good photorgraphers can get fantastic results from either. The differences in metering and performance are small, some people preffer Made small (it really isn't that big with no drive on it) the F5 can't, this can make a hugeĭifferance. I went for Canon, the 1V can be used without the drive so it can be Well I won't answer the question you're not asking.
